It’s back to school time, which means it’s time for Navajo Santa’s Goes to School program to spread excitement, confidence, joy for learning, and school spirit to students who are living on and near the Navajo Nation.
This year, Navajo Santa Goes to School Program visited NaaTsis’Aan Community School and Navajo Mountain High School on August 18. Each student received school supplies, a backpack and a school mascot sweatshirt. We also presented a check for $1,000 to each school principal to be used for needed programs, equipment or supplies.
A generous grant from the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation made all this possible. Navajo Santa Elves, Dr. Darrell Thomas and Marty Thomas presented a dental hygiene program and our friends from EyeCare4Kids offered free eye exams and hugs from See-more the bear.
Special thanks to board member Ann Johnson for leading the program. And to the board members and volunteers who participated.
